When the skeet club was first formed in the ealy 1900's, members used to shoot clay targets on the sands at Popham Beach. In 1942, 21 acres of land on the banks of the Kennebec River was left to the club from the estate of member Peter Gleason. We have been at that site ever since. Most of the members were ship builders from Bath Iron Works. They would gather after work on Wednesday afternoons and Sunday mornings for skeet shooting. Today that tradition continues.
Our membership is small. We shoot to have fun. Laughs and giggles can be frequently heard when a good shooter misses an easy shot. The skeet range is one of the prettiest in North America. We take pride in it and keep the grounds well maintained. We are open from snowmelt to snowfall.
